Activities
Meetings
The ACLN hosts mainly two forms of Meetings:
The Annual Meetings of all Steering Committee Members are convened with the objective of identifying and discussing emerging issues in the region as well as demarcating and formulating a comprehensive work plan for each forthcoming year.
Core Group Meetings are held from time to time for discussing specific campaign issues and progresses of related activities.
Trainings
Training Programmes:
A very important function of the Network is to undertake capacity building activities by conducting trainings for young cause lawyers representing countries around Asia . The trainings are conducted with the objective of sustaining action for change and to that extent catering to the growing need of a new generation of lawyers skilled in various cause lawyering techniques . There are two forms of Trainings that the ACLN engages with:
Court Watch
In order to promote the concept of ‘lawyers without borders' and closely follow the development of women's rights in Asia, the Network has undertaken to organize court watch missions to monitor ongoing cases concerning violation of women's rights. This will provide an opportunity to the members of the ACLN to provide hands on support to the lawyers engaged in pursuing the litigation.
Publications
In keeping with it’s mandate the Network is working on certain publications. Information on the same will be available on this web page as and when we release our publications.
Campaign Issues
Movement lawyering is an integral aspect of cause lawyering. Social Movements often break through the barriers of wealth, political impressions, or socially accepted norms. Movement lawyering seeks changes within the existing structure of given society by reaching out to the masses through a variety of tactics which chiefly involves communicating with people and spreading awareness. As a Network of Cause Lawyers, we do take up issues which we feel needs the immediate attention of the people.
